From Sep. 23 to Sep. 24, the 2nd Peking University Economic History Conference was held in SEPKU. The theme of the conference is Long-term Development of China`s Economy: Ideology, Theory and Practice, which aims to study and exchange the long-term economic growth of ancient China and modern times from thought, theory, method and practice, to further promote China`s economic history academic exchanges, and to strengthen interaction between domestic and foreign economic historians. More than 100 experts and scholars from dozens of universities and research institutions of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, attended the meeting.
Prof. Zhou Jianbo, Executive Director of Institute of Socio-economic History, School of Economics, Peking University, presided over the opening ceremony. Prof. Sun Qixiang, Dean of SEPKU, welcomed the scholars who came to the conference and expressed her gratitude to Dr. Wang Zhangwei of the University of Cambridge for his donation to the Institute of Socio-economic History. At the same time, she fully affirmed the development of economic history of Peking University in recent years, and she hoped that the academic circles will make great efforts to promote the prosperity of Chinese economic history. Researcher Wei Mingkong, President of China Economic History Association and Researcher Qian Jin, Vice President of Chinese Economic Thought Society, delivered speeches and warmly congratulated the conference. At the end of the opening ceremony was a part-time professor appointment ceremony. Prof. Sun Qixiang presented Professor Li Bozhong with an appointment letter from SEPKU.
Prof. Lin Bozhong from Tsinghua University, Prof. Lin Manhong from Academia Sinica, Prof. Xiao Guoliang from Peking University, Researcher Ye Tan from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Prof. Chen Zhengping from Shandong University, Prof. Jia Genliang from Renmin University of China, Prof. Yan Zhijie from Peking University, Prof. Zheng Huixin from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Zhou Jianbo from Peking University, Prof. Long Denggao from Tsinghua University and Prof. Zhu Yingui from Fudan University gave speeches respectively.
More than 50 papers were submitted to the conference. In the afternoon of Sep. 24, Professor Du Liqun from SEPKU presided over the closing ceremony. Professor Sun Shengmin from Shandong University, as the representative of the conference, made a prospect of the future of economic history research in China. Academy of Social Sciences researcher Qian Jin made a wonderful summary speech.
The 2nd Peking University Economic History Conference has successfully concluded. The conference provided a rare high-end platform for the study of Chinese economic history, attracting many famous scholars in the field of economic history and economic thought, providing an academic feast of economic history and made important contributions to the development of China`s economic history.
