The academic conference co-sponsored by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) - Asian Growth Institute (AGI) was held in Kitakyushu City, Japan in November 2016. Associate Professor Chen Kai was invited to attend and present papers. The theme of the session was "Aging in Asia", with about 30 experts and scholars from various countries and regions attending the meeting.

Associate Professor Chen Kai presented the paper entitled "Occupational Pension for Public Employees in China: a New Approach with DB Underpin Pension Plan". He put forward a new idea to raise the pension income of employees through additional pension insurance scheme and reduce the investment risk that workers may face, so as to make up for the lack of basic old-age insurance treatment of agencies and institutions to ensure that the institutions’ overall level of pension insurance is not compromised. In this process, we can realize the docking of the institutional old-age insurance system framework and enterprise employees’ pension insurance system framework, and ultimately establish a reasonable structure of the institutions’ old-age insurance framework.
