Invited by the program of “Overseas Specialists” of PKU, Prof. Joan Schmit of University of Wisconsin visited SEPKU recently. Prof. Sun Qixiang, the Dean warmly welcomed her visit and gave a general introduction of School of Economics briefly. Then the two sides exchanged views and reached a preliminary agreement on visiting scholars, undergraduate exchanges and joint training of PhD students.

Prof. Joan Schmit is the Distinguished American Family Insurance Chair in Risk Management and Insurance of Wisconsin School of Business. She served as President of American Risk and Insurance Association in 1994-1995, President of Risk Theory Society in 1991-1992 and Research Committee of International Insurance Society from 1998 till present. She once taught in University of South Carolina, and went to UW in 1986. She served as Interim Dean of Wisconsin School of Business from 2010 to 2011, Vice Dean from 2008 to 2012 and Vice Dean for Graduate Programs from 2002 to 2003.

Prof. Joan Schmit will give academic lectures in SEPKU, with the topics of "Development and Adverse Selection in Micro-insurance Market", "Micro-insurance and Reputational Risk Management", "Development of Liability Insurance Market in the United States" and " US Insurance Regulatory Reform”.
