The Centennial Anniversary Celebration of School of Economics Peking University has been successfully held

On a.m. 25^{th May, 2012, the Centennial Anniversary Celebration of School of Economics Peking University was held at the Peking University Hall. Li Keqiang, Vice Premier of China, sent a congratulatory message, Ismail Tiliwaldi, Vice Chairman of NPC, Ablet Abdurishit, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Lu Xin, Vice Minister of Education, Wang Mengkui, the former director of the State Council Development Center, Qiu Xiaoxiong, deputy director of the State Administration of Taxation, Tu Guangshao, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Committee, and the representatives of alumni and other universities attended the conference. Zhu Shanlu, Secretary of CPC of Peking University, Zhou Qifeng, the Principal of Peking University, persons in charge of various departments of the University, distinguished guests from all social circles, faculty and students of School of Economics and alumni attended the meeting, while the number of total attendees was over 1600. Zhang Zheng, Secretary of CPC of School of Economics Peking University hosted the meeting.}

The National Anthem preluded the celebration. First, Zhu Shanlu read the congratulatory message from Vice Premier Li Keqiang, who recollected the indoctrination and edification during his time at Peking University, he sent his regards to the centennial celebration, and he wrote: `In the past one hundred years, School of Economics Peking University has created extraordinary resplendence, and the next one hundred years will surely be more brilliant, which is our common expectation. I hope the School will continue to develop and expand the fine traditions of Peking University, innovate with tradition, strive with encourage, persist in broad horizon, profound foundation and practice, cultivate the talents who have great aspiration and responsibility, reach first-class achievements of economics, so as to more closely integrate into the historical process among the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and continuously realize fresh transcendent!`

Zhu Shanlu pointed out that Li keqiang not only pressed his wishes to School of Economics, but also presented higher requirements, which showed the cordial regards and expectation to Peking University from the central committee of China. We must inherit our traditions and strive to a more splendid future.

Sun Qixiang, Dean of School of Economics Peking University, retrospected the one hundred years` history of the School in her speech, which cherished the memory of excellent predecessors, and expressed her sincere thanks to the reliance and support from all circles of the society. She also indicated that the new generation of the School will have honors and responsibilities on their shoulders to innovate and surpass the past.

Zhou Qifeng spoke highly of the achievements that the School has made towards talents nurturing and discipline development, and he also expressed his thanks to the contribution that the School has devoted to China`s economic construction and academic progress, as well as the grand honor the School has brought to Peking University. He said, within the process to world-class university, School of Economics should further give play to academic and talent superiority, keep pace with the times, and extent in talents cultivation and academic research.

Soon afterwards, the video `One Hundred Years` Resplendence`, which was particularly made for the centennial anniversary, was played. The video both showed the history of the School and the regards to it.

In order to commemorate the aged professors who has made historical contribution to discipline development, social economic development and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the prize-awarding ceremony was held. Lu Xin, Zhu Shanlu, Zhou Qifeng conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor Zhang Youren et al., alumni representatives presented flowers to pay tribute to the professors.

Qian Yingyi, on behalf of brother universities, Tu Guangshao, on behalf of the alumnus, Zhang Youren, on behalf of the aged professors, and Zhang Chi, on behalf of the internal students from School of Economics, gave their speeches and expressed their genuine wishes.

At last, all the attendees sang the song `Ode to the Motherland`, and the celebration conference came to an end in the resonant singing.
