On September 11th, 2019, Professor FUKAGAWA Yukiko, Deputy Dean of School of Political Science and Economics, led a group of fifteen undergraduate students to pay a visit to the Department of International Economics and Trade, School of Economics at Peking University.
Then, “Research on Chinese Foreign Investment” workshop was held in Room 204, No.3 Building at PKU. The workshop was presided by Associate Professor Chen Yi, Assistant Dean of SEPKU, and Deputy Dean of the Department of International Economics and Trade. Wang Xi, from Institute of New Structural Economics, and Liu Qunyi, from the Department of International Economics, participated in the workshop.

The keynote speech compared the influence of overseas investments and domestic R&D investment on total factor productivity in China through empirical analysis given the recent years’ gradual decline in the scale of China’s overseas investments. The study has discovered a more obvious positive influence in domestic R&D investment. Then, teachers and students had a heated discussion on the data source, variable selection, and argumentation of the study.

After the workshop, students from SEPKU showed Japanese guests around the campus. Through this activity, students from Japan and China enhanced mutual understanding, built connection, and laid a foundation for further academic exchange in the future.
